Title: Temporary Placeholder II

About the Photo:
This was taken in Disko Bay, Greenland in July 2019. It is a wonderful place with extraordinary shapes, textures and colours. These icebergs are enormous but also temporary. Last summer was the hottest on record for Greenland and the melting of the icebergs was clear to see in the noonday sun as waterfalls adorned the sides of these monsters; along with the noises, like thunder claps, signalling another piece falling into the sea. The rate at which these bergs are calved from the nearby glacier and then melt away is happening at an ever greater rate. This is a precious environment and an early warning of climate change. We must protect it.
