A bustling transit and shopping hub, the Calatrava-designed Oculus World Trade Center in New York City is also an urban cathedral. There’s tension in the space; it’s simultaneously a public place for commerce and capitalism while also being a public space for remembrance. These images, captured on a single visit (Jan 26, 2025), seek to highlight interior soft edges and the play of light and shadow, and exterior relationships with buildings around the Oculus (including the rebuilt One World Trade Center).
