This “island” consisted of a tree trunk that has rooted in the lake bottom and formed a beautiful canopy. The photo was taken a very foggy morning with absolutely no wind. 
I had photographed this scene several times before but not with this nice light condition in the fog. The “island” does not exist anymore. The trunk was stranded in the following winter storm.
