Title: Naked Truths
Encouraged to point the camera at myself for the first time, I discovered how powerful and difficult it is to confront my own vulnerability. This process taught me to look beyond my hypercritical gaze, to question the limits I have imposed on myself, and to recognize the strength that comes from self-acceptance. However, this work is not only about me: it is a collective reflection, an act of listening and sharing with the women who have found the courage to tell their stories.
Women who have suffered violence, who live with chronic illnesses, who face discrimination related to their gender identity, or who struggle to express themselves in contexts that relegate them to silence, as often happens within the Church. Their voices are the heart of this project: an intertwining of pain and resistance, struggle and rebirth. It is a journey that dismantles imposed roles and prejudices, creating space for their strength and authenticity.
This work is a collective call for awareness and transformation. It aims to celebrate the resilience of these women, break the silence, and open new possibilities for expression and freedom. It is an invitation to see the beauty and potential of what, for too long, has been hidden or ignored.
In this section of the project, the works are created using mixed techniques, where each element is carefully chosen to convey a specific message. Each element becomes a tool for stories that cannot only be represented but must be lived, challenging the viewer to confront reality in its harshness and beauty. The “naked truth” becomes tangible through heterogeneous materials, each with its own meaning and evocative power, creating a bridge between message and artistic medium, in a harmony of form and substance.
My intention is to convey the concept of “naked truth” through the use of diverse materials, complex symbols, and mixed techniques. Truth intertwines with art on a path that reveals fragments of life, thoughts, and the place where you stand. It is like walking on a suspended wire, because art embraces and comforts, while truth unsettles and shakes the soul.
Frames, needle and thread, crosses, fabrics, jewellery, plastic: each material is a symbol, a voice that adds depth to the narrative. These deliberately heterogeneous details reflect the complexity of the stories told, creating works that not only represent but evoke, inviting deeper reflection.
