Francois Aubret

Title: Graphic Encounters

About the series:

François Aubret is a French photographer currently living in Los Angeles. After working as a museum and exhibition designer, he decided to go full circle and use his creativity towards his own artistic practice. His background as a designer really influenced the way he looks at his surroundings now. To him this is where his sensibility for symmetry and dynamic compositions comes from.

François’ work is a documentation of hidden geometries he comes across in urban environments. Wherever he goes, François likes to observe the local visual language that defines our cities and cultures. Away from popular landmarks, he wanders around modest neighborhoods searching for overlooked scenes that reflect the local visual identity. By playing with the relationship that exists between man-made and nature, abstraction and reality, he aims to reveal the familiar beauty and extraordinary humor in seemingly mundane spaces.
