I saw this subject about five years ago and decided that I needed to go and photograph the location.

This image was captured during the week of Hurricane Harvey in late 2017 which featured heavy rain and stormy conditions. Remnants of the Dome Home are located 200 feet off the end of Cape Romano, Marco Island, Florida. The Dome Home was built in the early 1980s by an oil tycoon but, with the hurricane activity in the Gulf over the last 30+ years, the land has been eroded away from the base of the old structure leaving the old structure on pilings in the gulf.
