Title: But I Have a Light

About the Photo:

These are all self portraits taken over the past 6months.

My intention with this collection has been to communicate the light beyond sadness. The metaphorical relationship between light and emotions is a central theme in my work. I have explored how hope can be visible even in utter darkness.

I wanted to create images simultaneously displaying both fragility and power, stillness and emotional volatility. Images which evoke a sense of ambiguity between the real and abstract.

Expressing these states and processes through words is challenging, if not impossible. This is why I am drawn toward the still image as my art form.
