The photograph captures the essence of the Namib Dunes in the late afternoon. The last light of the day, when the sun gently illuminates the highest curves of the dunes moments before setting. This is my favourite time to walk through the dunes of the Namib and allow the warmth and light to embrace me. The minute quartz crystals twinkle back like little stars in the foreground. I have enjoyed many desert/dune photo’s over the years but I think this one is particularly special because it captures a sense of the artistic, it invites an emotional connection and the light and dark are in perfect balance.
