Title: Tomato Salsa Salt Lake

About the Photo:

Photographed at Hutt Lagoon, 520km north of Perth in Western Australia. Hutt Lagoon is a series of marine salt lakes that contain carotenoid-producing algae which give them an amazing array of colours depending on the time of year & time of day. The algae is used in food colouring, dietary supplements, cosmetics & is a source of vitamin A. The salt lakes also house the world’s largest microalgae production plant that provides brine shrimp as feed for prawn & fish farmers.
