Just a few days ago the 2023 Pritzker Architecture Prize was announced, which was awarded to Architect – David Chipperfield. For me it has been a double reason for joy, since on the one hand I am passionate about his work, and because this series is dedicated to him
Developing this series about “The City of Justice” in Barcelona, one of his projects in collaboration with the B720 Architecture Studio, has been quite a challenge for me. It is the result of more than a year of work. It has not been easy, but what has been without a doubt is EXCITING.
It is a set of 8 blocks of concrete buildings around a public square, where the color, the volumes, the geometry make the whole a HARMONIC result, with an incredibly beautiful and delicious visual result.
I have played with perspectives showing the complex from different angles, volumes and with different compositions, ranging from the visual proposal of a single building, two, three and even four buildings at a time.
As a curiosity, the eight different tones (green, smoke, reddish, earth, ochre, yellow, orange, gray) of the facades were obtained by pigmenting their mass from iron oxide, with the exception of the green tones that are based on iron oxide chrome.
