Title: Guardians

About the Photo:

Japan is an island nation surrounded by oceans and seas. A long line of concrete coastal defences is an ingrained part of the Japanese coastal seascape. These seawalls, wave breakers and beacons are guardians from tides, typhoons and tsunami. The immensity of the ocean dwarfs these man-made guardians, diminishing them to shapes and forms in the water. I used long exposure photography, to silence nature’s power and calm the deep dark waters, if only for the moment.
