I had the pleasure of meeting Johnny last month at his Comet II restaurant on Route 66. Johnny is 90 years young. He loves sharing laughter and stories of the region, and continuing his rich family tradition of cooking tasty meals every single day at the Comet II. I photographed his restaurant the last night of my trip. I shot the Neowise comet in 2020, but after spending time at the Comet II restaurant, the Neowise feels like Johnny’s comet. I created this composite to honor Johnny and his family legacy.
