“Ephemeral” is my contemplative photographic series, alive and evolving over the past 20 years, capturing the world from the perspective of an aisle seat during air travel. Through these images, I offer glimpses of the earth and atmosphere thousands of feet above the land, creating a meditative experience. The series explores the concept of liminality, portraying the transient space between destinations where I find time to reflect and seek peace, free from daily distractions.
Over the years, I have used both film and digital cameras as technology has evolved, meticulously composing each photograph to highlight other planes above the horizon. This symbolizes my desire for connection with distant travelers sharing this moment of tranquility. The images evoke a sense of loneliness and insignificance, referencing the fragility of humanity against the vastness of nature, reminiscent of the minimalistic and meditative works of Mark Rothko and Hiroshi Sugimoto.
“Ephemeral” invites viewers to contemplate their own place within the vast expanse, offering a humbling and introspective experience.
