Despite some extensive redevelopment large stretches of Silvertown are occupied by businesses and communities that go back well into the last century, something that is quite unusual in a fairly central London location. These areas have a distinctly sparse, depopulated and low-rise feel about them. After several visits I felt that the best way to capture this feeling was from the opposite bank of the Thames, with the long exposure designed to eliminate a distraction rather than be the main focus of the shots. Not much of this London will exist soon as the redevelopment of the area ramps up.
