This photograph was made this past winter after a day of freezing rain in Grey County, Ontario, Canada. The trees were laden with heavy ice and the whole landscape was glazed with frozen rain. I went out for a drive, despite the treacherous conditions, and found this lovely intimate scene. The small shrub, standing resilient amid the frozen surroundings, seemed to embody nature’s quiet endurance and ability to persist through adversity.
