During a visit to Zurich Zoo, I saw the colourful flamingos in their large, species-appropriate enclosure. Most of the animals were very active, only this one female was standing on one leg, her beak tucked into her feathers, but her eyes were always open towards me. Was she, at that moment, the overseer of what was happening? Was she carefully monitoring the work of the others, but relaxing in the process? Unfortunately, there was no zookeeper nearby who could enlighten me. In the end, I decided on a very reduced shot in black and white focussing on her beautiful eye.
